Siam Park - The Water Kingdom

Siam Park - the Water Kingdom opened their doors to the public in September 2008 as the most spectacular water park of its kind in Europe. At a cost of 52 million Euros, and at the top of the list of things to do in Tenerife, it was opened by Her Royal Highness the Princess of Thailand Maha Chakri Sirindhom. Siam Park adds a whole new dimension to Tenerife attractions and leisure activities in the Canary Islands.

Siam Park is located just off the main motorway and is only a couple of minutes drive from Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas.

Newest Attraction in Tenerife

Construction of Tenerife’s newest attraction began way back in 2004 and was originally due to open to the public in May 2007 but ran into construction problems along the way which delayed opening by nearly two and a half years. In the original design of Siam Park a high speed rollercoaster was due to be included in the plans but this was shelved as the theme park concentrated on finishing phase one of the project so the park could open.

Siam Theme

The theme park is constructed around a Thai Village theme which can be seen in the designs of all the rides and buildings. There are 25 themed buildings which have been built in the park and together with Loro Parque, compete for the world record for the largest Thai village built outside of Thailand. The water park’s designers received special permission from the Thai Royal family in naming the park, and fully respected their wishes by not copying temples, statues of Budda and royal palaces in its theme.

Creator

Siam Park was created by Christoph Kiesling, the son of Wolfgang Kiesling - the creator of Tenerife’s other world famous attraction, Loro Parque in Puerto del la Cruz in the North of Tenerife. Armed with years of family experience and capital from his father, the young Christoph Kiesling created the biggest and best water park in the Europe.

Opening Hours and Directions

The park is open daily from 10 am until 6pm throughout the summer months and is open until 5pm in the winter months. Siam Park is easily accessible from all areas of the island. Even for those people staying in the tourist resorts in the north, the travelling time is still only about one hour. The water park is situated just off the main motorway (TF-1) which runs from Santa Cruz to Playa de las Americas, and the park is well signposted. Buses are available from pick up points around the island and can be reserved on purchasing your entrance ticket. If you are staying in the main resorts in the south of Tenerife then a free bus service is available to and from the park, and runs throughout the day.

When purchasing your ticket to the Siam Water Park why not take up the special Twin Ticket option, which will give you the chance to visit not only Siam Park in Playa de Las Americas, but also the world renowned Loro Parque in Puerto De la Cruz. Siam Park Technical Information

With the park being built on a steep hill, there are no obtrusive support structures in sight that you find in most other water parks throughout world. This gives Siam Park a totally natural feel to it, especially as the designers have filled the park with an abundance of sub-tropical gardens and shrubs. The Thai theme and attention to detail with the gardens truly makes it feel as though you were really in Thailand. To conserve Tenerife’s water, the park has also installed its own desalination plant which de-salinates just over 700 cubic meters of sea water every day. Once the day is over, the water is fully recycled and used to feed the parks lush green vegetation.

Parking

Parking is available directly outside the theme park, but is on a first come first serve basis. There is a small charge for parking your car and if you arrive around the opening time of 10 am then you should have no problems with parking.
