Castillo San Miguel or the San Miguel Castle as it is known in English is situated in the village of Aldea Blanca and is only a few kilometres from the main Tenerife airport and the Golf del Sur resort in San Miguel de Abona in the south of Tenerife. If you are looking for things to do in Tenerife, this should be near the top of your list.

The castle is built from Canarian canto stone and is an impressive 6,000 square metre construction, with the main towers standing at over 16 metres high and the grounds of the castle being an overall area of 20,000 metres square.

You will certainly step back in time as you enter the castle over the drawbridge and are greeted by Don Rodrigo, the Count and his daughter the Countess. You will then be ushered to your seat in the main arena by the king and his loyal knights. A spellbinding show is what follows with heroic acts and superb horsemanship.

During the show you will be served the royal banquet and as in medieval times, the food, which consists of soup followed by chicken and potatoes, is eaten by hand. The dinner is completed with a dessert and beverages which is included in the price of admission.

During the evening a Princess will be picked from the audience and once she is seated next to the king, the games will begin. The coloured seating in the tournament is tiered, giving everyone an uninterrupted view of the whole arena. You will also receive a coloured apron or shirt which corresponds with your seat and the colour of your own knight. Cheer on your knight from the moment they enter the arena!

A capacity of 1100 people will then watch and cheer on their knight during the horseback jousting tournaments and various other acts of bravery in the 50m arena, as well as the swashbuckling sword fights which all take place right in front of your eyes.

After the main show you are all invited into the ballroom where you will find a well stocked bar and a large professional stage with nightly entertainment, offering some of the best acts Tenerife has to offer.

The Castillo San Miguel offers a unique experience for anyone travelling to Tenerife and is certainly recommended as an exceptional evening out. Children especially will love it.
