Costa San Miguel - San Miguel de Abona

There has sometime been confusion over the areas of San Miguel de Abona and Costa San Miguel in Tenerife. San Miguel de Abona lies in the southern district of Tenerife just a few kilometres inland and overlooks the island's south airport (TFS). It is a rural village which lies in the heart of the municipality of the same name. The municipality stretches from the mountains down to the south coastline and is surrounded by the other local districts of Vilaflor, Granadilla and Arona, which lie respectively to the north, east and west of San Miguel. The south boundary of the municipality of San Miguel is of course the sea and coastline.

About Palm Mar

On the south coast of Tenerife between the coastal resorts of Las Galletas and Los Cristianos you will find the small touristic resort of Palm Mar. To get there, just take the exit off the main TF-1 motorway at junction 26 and head through the small town of Guaza on the TF-66 for a few kilometres, until you come to a mini roundabout which is sign posted to Palm Mar. There is only one route in and out of the town, so it is very easy to navigate.

Las Galletas, near to Costa del Silencio, has managed to keep its wonderful Canarian charm, built up over the years and combining modern infrastructure with the old fishing village style. Los Abrigos

Situated immediately next to Golf del Sur is the traditional Canarian fishing village of Los Abrigos, beautifully positioned on the waters edge of the Atlantic Ocean in the south of Tenerife. Famed for its pretty harbour and superb collection of seafront fish restaurants, Los Abrigos has grown in size in the last few years, but still retains a village feel with lots of charm. The small but cosmopolitan local community is well served with beaches, shops, a post office, banks and local supermarkets.

El Medano, Tenerife

Once a small Canarian village, El Medano, “The Sand Dune”  in Spanish, has now grown into a thriving seaside holiday resort. This ever-growing town can be found only a few kilometres from the airport and the resort of Golf del Sur. El Medano borders the largest natural beaches of Tenerife; the Playa Grande and the Playa Tejita. Between the beaches is La Montaña Roja ("The Red Mountain"), a volcanic cone that is a protected natural reserve.

Famous for its windsurfing, kite boarding and other numerous water sports, El Medano has over the last ten years or so had a total facelift and has benefitted from a huge development in its infrastructure. Retaining its cosy village atmosphere, this beautiful and charming seaside town has become one of the best holiday destinations for visitors to Tenerife.
