In a recent report by the insurance company Standard Life showing the main places that retirees settle, Spain is still number one on the list that also includes Australia and the U.S. followed by Ireland and France - which make up the top five destinations. One of the main reasons for Spain still being number one, apart from the sun, is that in Europe pensions are index linked and although the pound has suffered somewhat against the euro it is still a viable proposition to retire abroad to the sun.

Although mainland Spain is suffering from a lack of people and an abundance of properties, we are finding that here in the Canary Islands there is still a steady stream of new retirees every year. Our properties in Golf del Sur and Amarilla Golf are as popular as ever, and the enquiries we are getting for the end of this year have certainly been encouraging.

Property Update for Golf del Sur and Amarilla Golf

With the holiday period coming to and end in the next week or so and the schools and offices re-opening we at Homes and Away are in the process of updating our Golf del Sur properties and Amarilla Golf properties in anticipation of the returning swallows who will be over soon for the winter period, along with a new generation of retirees who will be searching for their winter home-from-home.

We have had a brisk week and Tanya has been busy with clients looking at all manner of Golf del Sur property – and, as you can see below, Amarilla Golf is also enjoying plenty of investment interest. I have also been working on our new office facebook profile so that we can promote our client’s properties to an even wider audience.
