In the latest news from the UK on buying property we are now being informed of new descriptive terms that are creeping into the market. We have all heard of Gazumping – this is whereby a seller accepts an offer from a prospective purchaser,only to then accept a better price from a further purchaser…

Well there are now two new words to get your head round the first one is call Gazanging – this is where a buyer is left hanging as a seller decides to pull out of a deal at the last minute for a number of different reasons but all to often due to market uncertainty. The report suggests that at least 54,000 buyers in the UK suffered from this during the first 6 months of this year. The second new term is Gazundering – this is where a buyer threatens the collapse of a chain by suddenly offering a lower price when everybody is poised to complete. Now although this is a new word a large number of people have had this happen to them in the past and I am sure we all know someone who has suffered.

So when you are buying your Golf del Sur property or Amarilla Golf property, remember that none of this could happen to you because here in Tenerife we have a straight-forward system that once you have signed your contract to buy, it is legally binding and should you pull out for any reason you will lose your deposit. Should the seller pull out for any reason then you will be able to reclaim double your deposit as recompense. This is a sensible no nonsense way of buying and selling and goodness knows why it has never been adopted in the UK (Scotland apart).
