In recent news from the local high street banks, it has been reported that young first time buyers would be better off buying rather than renting a property, but only if they can afford the initial deposit. Depending upon the type of property, and here in Golf del Sur and Amarilla Golf we have the right types, as much as 100 euros per month can be saved.

In the current climate, those 100 euros could be much better spent on other commodities rather than on property rental. Not only could you gain from the savings, but you would also own your own property and benefit from the appreciation in value that will come as the property market improves in the coming years. This report is further proof that banks are indeed willing now to give mortgages.

Although fears about the health of the property market still exist, it has been reported recently that property mortgage approvals are up 1.5% over the last year giving us all hope for the future. As I previously reported, local banks are now actively touting for mortgage business, which in itself is a good sign for the future.

The holiday period finishes at the end of the week and a return to work for lawyers, accountants, Notarios and government offices at the beginning of next week will see things back to normal.
