Crazy Golf - Activites & Things to Do in Golf del Sur

What does Crazy Golf conjure up in your memory? For me, I remember back in my childhood when crazy golf meant trudging up a wind and rain swept promenade at some dreary grey English seaside resort; trying to get my freezing fingers to grip a battered old putter and get a golf ball, at the fourteenth attempt, to go through some damn windmill... all against the wind I might add. How times have changed! At the Golf del Sur Golf Club, set in lush tropical gardens under the back-warming Tenerife sunshine, there's a whole new crazy golf experience to be had.

This wonderful little 18 hole mini golf course is privately owned and run by husband and wife team, Val and Barry Hardman who have owned the golf course for many years now, and consider it their personal little treasure. They get a real buzz from seeing families enjoying themselves around the course and watching the occasional competitive flare-ups. Barry told me "We've seen a few sore losers over the years, but you can always tell who lost because they are the first to suggest moving swiftly on to the bowls".

Taking Barry's lead and "moving swiftly on to the bowls", the Short Mat Bowls that they have on site is a real added bonus for those having an afternoon out and surely it must have placated a few family spats over the years. According to Wikipedia The Short Mat Bowls game was first introduced to the UK by two South Africans who came to work in Wales. Due to the poor weather in the UK they began to play a simulation of the outdoor game on a strip of carpet in a church hall. Development of the game was slow until the 1980's when the full potential of the game was realised as a low budget sport which can be played by all ages.

The crazy golf and short mat bowls facilities are open seven days a week from 10am till 6pm and are to be thoroughly recommended. You really can have great fun, and it is for all of the family and not just the kids. So enjoy your visit while you are on your Golf del Sur holiday - you will have a great few hours family entertainment and not break the bank.

Because the crazy golf is set in the grounds of the official Golf del Sur golf course, you are also free to use the clubhouse facilities. So once you've had a few hours of fun playing, then why not extend the day and have lunch or just a few drinks in the main clubhouse. To do this, please be aware that the main clubhouse does have a dress code so make sure you are dressed appropriately.

How to Get to the Golf del Sur Crazy Golf

Really easy, just enter the Golf del Sur Golf Club, and look out for the signs. The crazy golf is located behind the main clubhouse - as is the car park if you arrive by car. The car park has plenty of space, so that won't be a problem.

So enjoy your day out, and always remember that this is crazy golf as it really should be!. For more information on either The Crazy Golf Course or Short Mat Bowling, then please feel free to contact us directly by telephoning +34 662123506
